
Gulshan Orucova

Ms. Gulshan Orucova was born in a scholarly family in Baku. In 1987, she graduated with honors from the Faculty of Chemistry at Baku State University. In 2005, she completed a professional requalification programme and obtained a second specialization in primary education. Since 1989, she has been actively engaged in pedagogical practice, beginning her career as a primary school teacher.
In the 2001-2002 academic year, Ms. Orucova was awarded first place in the national "Teacher of the Year" competition. She served as Head of the Primary School Subject Association for 18 years and participated as a commission member in textbook review and discussion processes organized by the Ministry of Education.
Aligned with nationwide curriculum reforms, she co-authored several textbooks and methodological guides published between 2008 and 2016. In the 2007-2008 academic year, by decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, she was recognized as one of the winners of the "Top 100 Teachers" competition. In February 2010, she participated in the "School Leadership" programme held in Southern Connecticut, USA, through the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan.
Ms. Gulshan Orucova was awarded the honorary title of "Honored Teacher" by Presidential Decree dated March 4, 2010. Since the 2010-2011 academic year, she has served as the Principal of School-Lyceum No. 6. She is also a member of the Textbook Evaluation Council under the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Madhuparna Bhattacharyya has 25 years of experience in the field of education as an educationist and a pedagogical leader. She has acquired a plethora of experience internationally as she traversed across the globe, working in different IB schools. Countries like Sudan, China, Oman, Azerbaijan and India are her home as she practices and professes international-mindedness in today's complex world.
In this span of time, her school communities and beyond have seen her in various positions of English Language and Literature Teacher, Individual and Societies Teacher, Teacher-librarian, PYP Exhibition Mentor, English Language Coach, Head Teacher, School Curriculum Coordinator and IB PYP Coordinator. Two things Ms. Madhu focuses on: she desires for every child in her school to have their social-emotional needs met, by being in a safe and supportive environment. She also desires that her team of PYP teachers continue to feel empowered and be knowledgeable through the distributive leadership practices pursued in the PYP at Lyceum N6.
